Welcome to Swing Expansion!

We host West Coast Swing classes and social dances in Toronto.

What

is West Coast Swing?

West Coast Swing (WCS) is a partner dance that is playful, improvisational, smooth and elastic, and is danced to lots of music genres (pop, R&B, country, and more).

It evolved from Lindy Hop in the 1950’s and continues to change with the music and influence from other dances.

Leaders and followers both input ideas, like a conversation, as you’ll see in this clip.

Here’s an improvised competition dance by two WCS pros, Anna Wallace and Sam Vaden, dancing to Take the Rain Away by Debelah Morgan.

Who

is the instructor?

Hi, I’m Nabil!

I’ve been dancing West Coast Swing for 9 years and compete as an Intermediate leader and Novice follower. I’ve also coached recreational and competitive gymnastics for just as long, which has made me a strong technical teacher.

Dancing West Coast Swing has connected me to an amazing community around the world. It’s given me a space to build my confidence, and an outlet for creative expression.

Now I want to share this great dance with you.
